How it all began

Metalworx, Inc. was established as a sole proprietorship with one employee in 1995.  The company was incorporated in the state of South Carolina with two principles, Michael Sawer, President and Rodney Travis, Vice-President in October of 1997.

Michael has been a resident of the Charleston area since 1989 and has worked in the manufacturing field for over twenty years. He served four years in Charleston with the United States Navy as a machinist and remained in Charleston where he began a series of jobs that would lead him and his business partner Rodney Travis to start their own company, Metalworx, Inc in 1997. 

Rodney has worked in the manufacturing field for fifty years and has lived in the Charleston area since 1984. Michael and Rod worked for companies where the management staff did not value their employees and their contributions.  He and Rod founded Metalworx, Inc. on the principles of honesty and integrity and commitment to helping their customers improve.  He and Rod are able to give the employees of Metalworx, Inc. some of the best working conditions in the industry and they work hard to instill their management philosophy to continually improve their business, helping the company become more efficient, working smarter, not harder. 

Michael and Rodney have always had a strong relationship with their customers, dedicated to helping them be more profitable as well as a strong commitment to the employees of Metalworx, Inc., by allowing each individual the resources and support to do their job and grow with the company.  They remain dedicated to the future growth of the company and helping their customers and employees to be successful.
